WAKE Summer Housing Intern Program


Who Qualifies

Any individual involved in non-classroom academic course work, such as, but not limited to, thesis, dissertation work, or internship work related to an academic discipline or other special circumstances, is qualified to live in the WAKE Summer Housing Intern Program.

Students officially enrolled in a summer school course or work at Wake Forest University do not qualify, summer school students must live in regular summer school housing. Accordingly, a student attending summer school may not room with a student who is eligible for WAKE Summer Housing Intern Program.

Please note: Conference Services must receive a written verification from the sponsoring faculty member or employer verifying internship/employment. The sponsoring party can send this information in an e-mail to conferences@wfu.edu.

Location & Description

WAKE Summer Housing Intern Program (WAKE S.H.I.P.) facilities are located in Student Apartments on Allen Easley Street. Each apartment consist of two bedrooms, a living room, one bath, and a full kitchen.

Residents must furnish all essential amenities including: telephone, television, linens, cookware, dishes, etc.


Cost

Accommodations are charged by sleeping space, because of high demand, there is a strong likelihood that all residents will be sharing an apartment with another individual. Guests are allowed one check-in and one check-out per visit within our facilities, with no exceptions. A week constitutes seven (7) days.

  • Without exception, rent is due in full at the end of your stay.
  • All payments must be in the form of cash or checks.
  • Make checks payable to Wake Forest University or initiate a departmental transfer.

Office Hours and Location

For your convenience, our office is located in the lobby of Polo Residence Hall, across from Student Apartments. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. In case of an emergency, Summer Conference Staff may be contacted, after hours using the phone number provided to you at check-in.


Check-In

Check-in should be between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Polo Residence Hall office. Need to make other arrangements? Contact the Conference Service office as soon as you know your arrival time has changed.

Check-Out

Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Polo Residence Hall office. What if I need to check out over the weekend? Special arrangements must be made for weekend departures. Be sure to include this information in your application. Please remember, our guests are allowed one check-in and one check-out per visit within our facilities, with no exceptions. A week constitutes seven (7) days.

All payments are due at the time of check-out; no exceptions will be made.


Amenities

Laundry
Coin-operated laundry machines are available for use by guests. These machines are conveniently located in the building between Student Apartments Building A and Building B.

Food Service
Food services are located in the Fresh Food Company, Reynolda Hall. A variety of food stations, plus Subway on the main Quad.

Parking
Each participant receives a Parking Pass when they check-in — at no additional charge.

Housekeeping
Custodial Services staff will visit each apartment once each week to remove trash and clean/sanitize bathroom areas. Residents are responsible for keeping the kitchen area clean.

Telephones
Each apartment has two analog phone jacks. Guests who wish to have phones in their rooms must bring their own analog compatible phone (most home phones are analog compatible). Calling cards are required for long distance.

Internet
Should guests wish to bring their computers, Wake Forest University is a wireless campus.

Cable
All apartments come equipped with cable television service; however, all guests must provide their own television.

Residents must furnish such amenities as dishes, cookware, etc.


Facilities Issues

Call the Polo Hall office at 336.758.1755 for facilities issues or to request maintenance.

For lock-outs during regular office hours, contact the Polo Hall Office at 336. 758.1755. Summer Conference staff may be contacted, after hours using the phone number provided to you at check-in.

If you should lose your keys, please call the office to request a lock core change. The cost of a lock core change is $70 per lock.
